About me
My name is Evelyn Rodrigues and I am a working artist, based in Watford in Hertfordshire, just outside London, England.
Working primarily in acrylic, pastel, graphite and pen & ink, my paintings and drawings are inspired by careful observation. I enjoy exploring a wide range of subjects—from wildlife and landscapes to portraits and travel sketches—but each begins in the same way: by slowing down, looking closely and discovering what makes that subject unique.
Wildlife has a special place in my work. Rather than simply recording an animal's appearance, I try to capture those fleeting moments that reveal its character—a heron lifting into the evening sky, the alert curiosity of a hare, or the quiet intensity of a tiger's gaze.
Portraiture is another important part of my practice. Whether creating commissioned family and pet portraits or drawing from life, I enjoy observing the subtle expressions and gestures that make every individual different.
I regularly exhibit locally and have my work in private collections on three continents.
